2705224	有图 <p>The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) will have a new chief executive on Feb 1, 2025.</p><p>Ms Yen Tan, 54, will be the CEO-designate from Oct 1, before becoming CEO in 2025.</p><p>In a statement on Sept 6, the organisation said Ms Tan had previously served as the chief operating officer at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Yishun Health, and has over 20 years of experience in healthcare management.</p><p>NKF chairman Arthur Lang said her experience in the public healthcare sector and leadership in operations and quality service management make her an “invaluable asset” to the organisation.</p><p>“Her notable work in hospital transformation and creating (a) sustainable healing environment that prioritises patient comfort and well-being will be crucial in advancing our mission to deliver holistic care and support to our patients,” said Mr Lang.</p><p>She will succeed Mr Tim Oei, 65, who will step down on Jan 31, 2025. Boy Anne asked Sharan if he knew anyone willing to convey Izuwan out of Singapore illegally for RM2,300, or about S$690.</p><p>Sharan then asked Ramesh if he was keen to take up the job. ICA said both men knew Izuwan was not allowed to leave Singapore as he was under investigation for importing e-cigarettes into the Republic.</p><p>Izuwan’s passport had also been seized by the Health Sciences Authority.</p><p>Ramesh agreed to the job as he needed the money. He also agreed to pay Sharan RM300 for the referral.</p><p>Sharan was also given a commission fee by Boy Anne for coordinating the plan.</p><p>Ramesh later picked up Izuwan along a bus stop at Tuas around 9am on July 19. 2705222	有图 <p>Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) officers can look forward to enhanced monetary benefits following changes to its savings and retirement scheme from July 1, 2025.</p><p>With these changes, new SAF officers will see an average of 40 per cent increase in benefits as compared to if they were under the current scheme, and can accumulate about three years of their last drawn annual salaries at retirement.</p><p>In a statement on Sept 6, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) listed three key changes that will be introduced to the Savings and Employee Retirement (Saver) Plan.</p><p>Firstly, bonus cash payments will be given to officers between the ages of 25 and 34 for every three years of service. The monies in this account are transferred to officers via their CPF account when they leave SAF.</p><p>Lastly, increased contributions to officers’ Retirement Accounts will begin from their first year of service instead of the seventh. 2705221	有图 <p>A 20-year-old youth who raped his schoolmate while her then boyfriend held her down was on Sept 6 handed eight years’ jail and three strokes of the cane, following an appeal by the prosecution against his initial sentence of reformative training.</p><p>The rape took place on the floor of a public toilet in June 2020 when he was 16 years old, the girl 14, and the boyfriend 22.</p><p>In allowing the prosecution’s appeal, the Court of Appeal noted that ordinarily, when a 16-year-old rapes a 14-year-old, the court may still consider a rehabilitative sentence on account of his age.</p><p>“But the accused was no ordinary 16-year-old,” said the court, which comprised Justice Tay Yong Kwang, Justice Steven Chong and Justice Debbie Ong.</p><p>The court said his string of offences and complete disregard for the law showed that rehabilitation was not the best option here.</p><p>Between 13 and 16 years old, the accused stole bicycles, personal mobility devices and batteries for such devices. Undeterred, he committed the rape shortly after his second arrest.</p><p>The victim was his schoolmate and the best friend of his girlfriend.</p><p>On June 27, 2020, the victim agreed to go drinking with her boyfriend, after he threatened to seek out other girls if she refused. The couple headed forAdmiraltyParkwith a bottle of whisky and set up a live stream of their drinking session at a playground.</p><p>The accused chanced upon the live stream and joined them at the park.</p><p>After the victim threw up and lay on the ground, the youth and the girl’s boyfriend carried her to a toilet for the handicapped.</p><p>Her boyfriend took off her jacket and T-shirt, and the accused held the jacket over her face while the boyfriend carried out a sex act on her.</p><p>The boyfriend then held the victim down while the accused raped her.</p><p>After the assault, she asked her boyfriend why he did not save her. In response, he blamed her for having sex with the accused, and they ended up quarrelling.</p><p>The victim eventually broke up with her boyfriend in September 2020.</p><p>The rape came to light only on Feb 17, 2021, when the victim told her teacher about the assault.</p><p>The youth pleaded guilty in the High Court to a charge of rape on Oct 17, 2023.</p><p>Although he was found suitable for reformative training, the prosecution pressed for a sentence of between eight and 10 years’ jail, and between six and eight strokes of the cane.</p><p>The High Court judge sentenced him to reformative training, saying that he did not think rehabilitation has been displaced as the main sentencing consideration in this case.</p><p>The prosecution then appealed, reiterating its sentencing position.</p><p> </p><p>Deputy Public Prosecutor Yvonne Poon argued that the accused lacked remorse by asserting that the victim looked like she was enjoying the sexual act.</p><p>Defence counsel Mato Kotwani said his client does not blame the victim. 2705220	有图 <p>A bus driver was arrested after another bus driver died in an accident in Tuas on Sept 6.</p><p>Police said they were alerted to the accident between two buses at 7.35am on Sept 6, along Tuas South Avenue 4 towards Tuas South Avenue 1.</p><p>A 64-year-old male bus driver was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.</p><p>A 67-year-old man, who was behind the wheel of the other bus, was arrested for careless driving causing death, police added.</p><p>SCDF said it assessed one person for minor injuries, who declined to be taken to hospital.</p><p>In footage of the accident posted on Facebook page Singapore roads accident.com, a bigger yellow bus can be seen crashing into the rear of a smaller white bus that was parked at the side of the lane. 2705217	有图 <p>One new ward at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) is marching to a different beat.</p><p>Piloted since February, it encourages patients to get out of their beds to move about, and start drinking and eating earlier than the norm after surgery. It has shown that this approach enables patients to recover and get discharged more quickly.</p><p>Patients also end up paying less, generally, and their early discharge reduces the strain on the hospital system.</p><p>The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery(Eras)ward also looks different. It was introduced in 2016 to patients who underwent colorectal surgery. Subsequently, patients who had major surgery such as bariatric, breast reconstruction, urology, head and neck operations were also placed in the Eras programme.</p><p>What changed in February was that the programme was given a dedicated ward, with facilities like the track to help the patients recover faster.</p><p>Many of such patients would previously have been sent to high-dependency wards, as they require closer monitoring. But beds in high-dependency wards are now freed up, lessening the strain on hospital capacities.</p><p>Compared with patients who stay in a typical ward, the average length of stay in the Eras ward for those who had colorectal or breast reconstruction surgery has been reduced by about 25 per cent.</p><p>The average length of stay in the Eras ward for patients who underwent bariatric surgery has been reduced by 50 per cent.</p><p>Priority for admission to the Eras ward has been given to those who had these three operations.</p><p>Dr How Kwang Yeong, lead of the Eras programme and senior consultant from the department of general surgery, said: “We choose to track and measure these three disciplines because they’ve got very established Eras guidelines.”</p><p>He said that the team hopes to spread the concept of the Eras ward to other surgical wards at TTSH, which is under the National Healthcare Group, but this is subject to the number of elective major operations the hospital performs.</p><p>“We’ve continued to inculcate the principles we have conducted in services so that every nurse in our surgical wards should understand what is Eras,” he added.</p><p>Dr How said that the team applied the guidelines from the Eras Society, a Europe-based non-profit group that seeks to develop care before, during and after surgery, and to improve patient recovery.</p><p>Over the past eight years, nurses have been trained to care for and help patients according to Eras guidelines, specifically to encourage patients to get out of their beds sooner, and to start consuming nutritional drinks and food instead of fasting.</p><p>Housewife Jasmine Chua, 69, who had colorectal surgery to remove a cancerous growth in her colon on Aug 30, was discharged on Sept 1.</p><p>She was able to get out of bed and walk about for short distances with the help of a nurse and a physiotherapist on the morning of Aug 31. On the same day, she drank apple juice for breakfast and had some clear soup for lunch.</p><p>Traditionally, patients who undergo colorectal surgery get out of the bed only after two to three days to move about and leave the hospital after eight days.</p><p>“I can now do some light household chores at home, such as mopping the floor,” Madam Chua said.</p><p>Madam Chua’s daughter, Ms Jayce Soh, 35, said: “Nurses are quite knowledgeable regarding the drugs, her recovery and nutrition information when I need to ask them. So I don’t necessarily have to wait for the doctor to drop by. They are quite clear on the conditions and what we can or cannot do. I think that was very helpful.”</p><p> </p><p>Another patient, Mr Henry Soh, 64, who underwent a similar surgery on Feb 16, could sit up on the bed and started taking oral supplements one day after his surgery.</p><p>He could walk around the ward independently and interacted with other patients in the same ward on Feb 18. He was discharged by Feb 20, without needing medication, physiotherapy or chemotherapy.</p><p>“Dr How did a good job. He put me in the Eras ward. No need for chemotherapy or hormone therapy, no medications... I’m eating. My life is back on track. These include a play book to support life planning and care planning for the future, as well as more lifelong learning opportunities.</p><p>Ms Denise Phua, president of ARC(S), said while much progress has been made to support the autism community, there are still significant gaps in provisions for such adults.</p><p>“There is an urgent need to expand the range of services and support across the lifespan to meet the needs of the diverse profiles of adults on the spectrum,” said Ms Phua.</p><p>“With training and support, individuals on the autism spectrum can thrive in living, learning and working.”</p><p>Ms Phua, who is also mayor of Central Singapore District, said the programme may eventually be adapted for other persons with disabilities beyond autism.</p><p>Ms Rachel Ong, chairperson of TPPL and MP for West Coast GRC, said TPPL’s mission is to champion inclusion and celebrate the abilities of people with special needs.</p><p>“With Temasek Foundation’s partnership in regranting, we will identify and support impactful programmes that empower persons with disabilities to lead dignified and meaningful lives,” she said.</p><p>“We are delighted to work with ARC(S) to advance its efforts in uplifting the special needs community, as our pilot programme.”</p><p>Ms Woon Saet Nyoon, Temasek Foundation’s head of community networks and partnerships, said the foundation is heartened to be a catalyst for the inaugural pilot programme to enable post-18 PWDs to live independently through support and training.</p><p>Caregivers, too, are given training to support those individuals with autism.</p><p>Mr Choo’s mother, Madam Yvonne Tai, said the course helps him to be more independent. He is currently out on a bail of $15,000.</p><p>The man was arrested on Aug 31, 2021, after he was caught placing a spy pen camera in the toilet near the kitchen of his student’s grandparent’s home while he was there tutoring.</p><p>He admitted to having placed the camera to record the domestic helper, 27, using the toilet.</p><p>The prosecutor said the helper went into the toilet to take a shower, but decided to shower with the lights off as she was suspicious of the man.</p><p>While showering, she spotted the spy camera and quickly put her clothes back on before retrieving the pen.</p><p>After spotting the helper leaving the toilet, the man went back to retrieve his camera but discovered it was missing.</p><p>He intercepted the helper and saw her holding the pen, before asking for the device back. She handed the pen to him as she was afraid of him.</p><p>She later informed her employers of the incident and a police report was made.</p><p>After his arrest, the police escorted the man back to his own residence where they seized two memory cards, two portable hard drives, two laptops, a mobile phone, one spy pen camera, and four disassembled spy pen camera parts.</p><p>Forensic analysis of the devices found he had recorded at least 55 images and videos of staff members and students at the education centre.</p><p>A further 24 images and recordings of victims below the age of 14 were also found in his possession.</p><p>The man admitted to recording a 9-year-old student he taught at the tuition centre where he was employed sometime between April 2020 and August 2021.</p><p> </p><p>He also pleaded guilty to recording his own 27-year-old sister in June 2021. 2705203	无图 <p>6 September 2024 – Direktur Utama Pertamina Nicke Widyawati turun langsung mengecek ketersediaan elpiji 3 kg di Kota Surakarta, Jumat, 6 September 2024.</p><p>Begitu tiba di Bandara Adi Soemarmo, Boyolali, Nicke langsung mendatangi sejumlah toko kelontong di Kecamatan Laweyan, Surakarta.</p><p>Di toko kelontong tersebut Nicke mengecek langsung ketersediaan elpiji 3 kg di level pengecer dan berdialog langsung dengan pemilik toko.</p><p>“Sudah beberapa hari terakhir memang tidak ada yang antar,” ucap Ibu Iin pemilik toko kelontong.</p><p>Mendengar keluhan pemilik toko, Dirut Pertamina pun langsung memerintahkan Executive General Manager Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Tengah Aribawa untuk segera menindaklanjuti dengan mendata toko tersebut.</p><p>“Ibu akan dibantu, silakan nanti Ibu bisa langsung membeli elpiji 3 kg ke Pangkalan hanya 2 km dari sini. Harganya Rp15.500, jauh di bawah Harga Eceran Tertinggi di harga Rp18.000, nanti akan di data dengan menggunakan KTP karena memang ini barang subsidi,” ucap Nicke.</p><p>Nicke juga mengatakan tim sales area manager Pertamina akan membantu para toko kelontong yang berperan sebagai penyalur elpiji 3 kg di level eceran.</p><p>“Tim kami di lapangan selalu siaga untuk membantu Ibu dan para pemilik toko lain yang menyalurkan elpiji 3 kg, jika ada keluhan bisa langsung sampaikan dan bisa juga melalui call center Pertamina 135,” ucap Nicke.</p><p>Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Tengah sendiri telah melakukan penambahan elpiji 3 kg sebanyak 13.600 tabung di Kota Surakarta. 2705202	无图 <p>Kuta Selatan, Bali, 6 September 2024 – PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), sebagai Subholding Upstream Pertamina, berhasil memenangkan lelang Wilayah Kerja (WK) Melati, bersama-sama mitra konsorsium Sinopec International Energy Investment Holdings Limited dan KUFPEC Regional Ventures (Indonesia) Limited. Pengumuman Pemenang Lelang Wilayah Kerja Migas Tahap I Tahun 2024 disampaikan secara langsung oleh Pelaksana Tugas (Plt) Direktur Jenderal Minyak dan Gas Bumi (Migas) Dadan Kusdiana bertepatan dengan acara Indonesia-China Energy Forum ke-7 (ICEF) di Bali Selasa (3/9/2024).</p><p>WK Melati yang dimenangkan oleh konsorsium PHE menyumbang proporsi yang signifikan terhadap total investasi lelang WK Migas Tahap I Tahun 2024 dengan Komitmen Pasti senilai USD12.700.000 dan bonus tanda tangan senilai USD200.000.</p><p>WK Melati didahului oleh pelaksanaan Studi Bersama (Joint Study) oleh PHE dengan mitra sebelumnya di tahun 2023 sampai selanjutnya dilelang pada Mei 2024 dan berikutnya diumumkan pemenang pada awal September 2024. WK ini berlokasi di lepas pantai dan daratan yang meliputi area seluas 8.453,7 km2 dengan estimasi sumber daya 850 juta barrel minyak dan 4,7 triliun cubic feet gas dalam dokumen lelang.</p><p>Direktur Utama PHE, Chalid Said Salim, menyatakan bahwa penunjukan WK Melati oleh Pemerintah kepada konsorsium PHE dan mitra merupakan wujud dukungan penting dari Pemerintah dalam upaya keberlanjutan Pertamina untuk terus mengembangkan potensi eksplorasi dalam negeri. “Kami percaya bahwa amanah pengelolaan WK Melati dari Pemerintah dan juga rangkaian amanah pengelolaan WK eksplorasi sebelumnya seperti WK West Ganal, WK Peri Mahakam, serta WK Bunga merupakan amanah yang perlu kami jaga untuk kami realisasikan potensinya sebaik-baiknya menggunakan teknologi dan operasi yang unggul agar Pertamina terus menambah jumlah sumber daya migas domestik demi ketahanan energi nasional. 2705201	无图 <p>6 September 2024 - Setelah meninjau langsung sejumlah toko dan warung pengecer elpiji 3 kg di Kota Surakarta, Jumat 6 September 2024, Direktur Utama Pertamina Nicke Widyawati memastikan pihaknya akan menjamin pasokan gas elpiji 3 kg di wilayah Surakarta.</p><p>“Hari ini saya datang langsung ke Surakarta dan sekitarnya setelah mendapatkan informasi adanya gangguan pasokan elpiji 3 kg bagi masyarakat. Saya tadi mengecek langsung dan mendatangi beberapa penjual eceran hingga pangkalan agen elpiji 3 kg,” ucap Nicke.</p><p>Menurut Nicke, memang terjadi peningkatan permintaan elpiji 3 kg di wilayah Surakarta dalam kurun waktu sekitar tiga pekan terakhir sebagai dampak tumbuhnya UMKM dan musim tanam petani di area Solo Raya.</p><p>“Salah satunya sesuai data Pemkot Solo adalah peningkatan permintaan sebesar 15 persen untuk pedagang UMKM akibat tumbuhnya UMKM di Solo. Di satu sisi ini pertanda baik karena artinya perekonomian UMKM di Solo ini tumbuh cukup signifikan,” ungkap Nicke.</p><p>Nicke menambahkan karena saat ini juga mulai memasuki musim tanam dan kemarau, sehingga konsumsi elpiji 3 kg untuk mesin pompa untuk pengairan di sektor pertanian juga meningkat.</p><p>“Oleh sebab itu, Pertamina sejak Agustus lalu total sudah menambahkan 13.600 tabung elpiji sebagai langkah penanggulangan dan nanti akan kita sesuaikan mekanisme distribusi dengan kebutuhan,” ungkap Nicke.</p><p>Nicke mengimbau masyarakat untuk tidak melakukan panic buying, Pertamina menjamin pasokan gas elpiji 3 kg aman untuk masyarakat dan tidak ada pengurangan pasokan.</p><p>“Pertamina bersama pemerintah juga akan terus memastikan bahwa distribusi elpiji 3kg bersubsidi ini bisa tepat sasaran kepada masyarakat yang berhak,” ungkap Nicke.</p><p>Pertamina sebagai perusahaan pemimpin di bidang transisi energi, berkomitmen dalam mendukung target Net Zero Emission 2060 dengan terus mendorong program-program yang berdampak langsung pada capaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hal ini ditunjukkan melalui penandatanganan dua bentuk kerja sama, yaitu dengan PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN) dan dengan pemerintah Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), pada Kamis (5/9).</p><p>Dengan SGN, penandatanganan perjanjian kerangka kerja sama dilaksanakan oleh Chief Executive Officer Pertamina NRE, John Anis, dan Direktur Utama SGN, Mahmudi. Sedangkan dengan provinsi NTT, penandatanganan kesepakatan kerja sama dilakukan oleh Chief Executive Officer Pertamina NRE, John Anis, dan Pj. Gubernur NTT, Ayodhia G. L. Kalake.</p><p>"Kerja sama ini adalah langkah strategis yang baik dalam rencana pengembangan bioetanol di Indonesia. Kami optimis bahwa kolaborasi antara Pertamina NRE dan SGN serta Pemprov NTT akan menghasilkan dampak yang positif dalam percepatan transisi energi nasional. Pertamina NRE selama ini berfokus di penyediaan energi baru dan terbarukan, salah satunya melalui bioetanol," ujar John Anis, CEO Pertamina NRE.</p><p>Pertamina NRE bersama SGN sepakat untuk bekerja sama membangun pabrik bioetanol di Glenmore, Kabupaten Banyuwangi, Jawa Timur, dengan memanfaatkan bahan baku molase (produk samping dari pengolahan tebu untuk gula) di pabrik gula Glenmore. Pabrik bioetanol ini direncanakan memiliki kapasitas produksi sebesar 30.000 kilo liter per tahun atau setara dengan 100 kilo liter per hari (KLPD). Proyek ini merupakan bagian dari rencana jangka pendek pengembangan bisnis bioetanol.</p><p>“Kami menyambut baik rencana kerja sama dari PNRE, hal ini sejalan dengan komitmen SGN untuk terus mendukung upaya pemerintah dalam mengembangkan produksi bioetanol sebagaimana tertuang dalam Perpres 40/2023," ujar Mahmudi, Direktur Utama PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara.</p><p>Sedangkan dengan pemerintah Provinsi NTT, Pertamina NRE sepakat untuk mengembangkan bioetanol di wilayah Provinsi NTT. Kerja sama ini termasuk dalam strategi jangka menengah Pertamina NRE. Kerja sama ini diharapkan dapat mengeksplorasi potensi pengembangan bioetanol melalui identifikasi potensi lahan yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk tanaman energi di NTT seperti tebu, jagung, singkong, dan lainnya. Tidak saja mendukung program transisi energi pemerintah Indonesia, program ini akan memberikan manfaat bagi kemajuan daerah dan kesejahteraan masyarakat serta mendukung peningkatan produktivitas pertanian.</p><p>“Terima kasih atas inisiatif baiknya. Kami berharap upaya pengembangan bioetanol di NTT dapat menjadi langkah strategis untuk memberi manfaat bagi kemajuan daerah dan kesejahteraan masyarakat lokal di NTT, terlebih NTT dikenal secara geografis cocok untuk tanaman energi seperti jagung yang dibutuhkan PNRE,” ujar Ayodhia G. L. Kalake, Pj. Gubernur NTT.</p><p>Implementasi bioetanol sebagai campuran bahan bakar minyak (BBM) telah dimulai oleh Pertamina melalui peluncuran produk Pertamax Green 95 pada tahun 2023. Langkah ini sejalan dengan rencana pemerintah untuk mengurangi Emisi Gas Rumah Kaca (GRK) di sektor transportasi melalui penyediaan Bahan Bakar Nabati (BBN). Pemerintah mendorong penggunaan bioetanol sebagai bahan bakar transportasi dengan harapan langkah ini dapat mengurangi impor BBM nasional, menciptakan lapangan kerja baru, meningkatkan GDP, serta berkontribusi pada penurunan emisi dalam jangka panjang. Langkah ini sejalan dengan Peraturan Presiden Nomor 40 Tahun 2023 tentang Percepatan Swasembada Gula Nasional dan Penyediaan Bioetanol sebagai Bahan Bakar Nabati (Biofuel).</p><p>Vice President Corporate Communication PT Pertamina (Persero) Fadjar Djoko Santoso menambahkan, peran Pertamina dalam memimpin transisi energi, termasuk untuk mengembangkan ekosistemnya sehingga implementasi energi transisi berjalan menyeluruh. Kolaborasi antara pelaku usaha, yakni Pertamina NRE dan SGN, dengan Pemprov NTT merupakan kolaborasi untuk mempercepat transisi energi ini.</p><p>"Untuk mencapai target energi transisi, Pertamina tak bisa hanya berjalan sendiri. Kemitraan dengan berbagai pihak, baik lembaga pemerintah maupun swasta, akan mendorong tercapainya target Net Zero Emission Pemerintah Indonesia pada tahun 2060, atau bahkan lebih cepat," jelas Fadjar.</p><p>Dalam pengembangan bisnis bioetanol, Pertamina NRE ke depan akan menjadi penyedia bioetanol yang akan diolah dan dipasarkan melalui PT Pertamina Patra Niaga.
